product

Evaluates a finite symbolic product over an integer index.

With concrete integer bounds, Nerdamer substitutes the index through the inclusive range and multiplies the resulting symbolic terms. If a bound is still symbolic, the product remains unevaluated.

Examples

These examples use Nerdamer Notation.

Multiply a simple finite integer range.

product(k,k,1,5)
// → 120

Build an exact symbolic product of shifted factors.

product(x+k,k,1,4)
// → (1+x)*(2+x)*(3+x)*(4+x)

Multiply indexed symbolic Vector entries over their full range.

W:[x,x+1,x+2]; product(W[k],k,0,size(W)[0]-1)
// → x*(1+x)*(2+x)

nerdamer.product

Call the operation through the default nerdamer import.

nerdamer.product(expr: Expression, index: Expression, lower: Expression, upper: Expression): Expression

Parameters

NameTypeDescription
exprExpressionThe expression to be multiplied.
indexExpressionThe index variable (must be a plain symbol).
lowerExpressionThe lower bound (integer required for evaluation).
upperExpressionThe upper bound (integer required for evaluation).

Returns

Expression — The product result or a symbolic product node.
